Exodus 34: 22 “And you shall observe the Feast of Weeks, of the First-fruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the year's end.
Acts 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
What is Shavuot? What is Pentecost?
In the Bible Yahweh (Lord) had given us appointed times, Feast Days that he set aside for us to meet with Him. Shavuot is one of the appointment times, it is a time that Yahweh calls those that believe in him to gather before him, to have a Holy Congregation. (Lev 23:21)
In the Old Testament (Torah), at Mt Sinai Yahweh gave His instructions, The Ten Commandments, His betrothal contract to us.
In the New Testament Yeshua (Jesus) promised he would send a Helper (John 14:25) when he ascended into Heaven. Fifty Days after Yeshua rose from the grave the Holy Spirit descended from Heaven and ALL present were filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2) Pentecost is the Greek word for Shavuot and also means fifty.
Shavuot is a celebration of two gifts given by Yahweh, His Word (Torah) and His Holy Spirit. “Yahweh is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24)
